Bonnie Comley and Stellar Productions Int’l present IN THE WINGS, a new comedy by three-time Tony Award winner Stewart F. Lane at the Promenade Theatre (2162 Broadway at West 76th Street). Directed by Jeremy Dobrish (Duet!, Maybe Baby It’s You), IN THE WINGS features Josh Prince (Forbidden Broadway, Little Me), Lisa Datz (The Full Monty, Titanic), Brian Henderson, Emmy and Obie Award-winning actress Marilyn Sokol (Guilt Without Sex, Grease!) and Emmy nominee Peter Scolari (CBS’ “Newhart,” Broadway’s Sly Fox and Hairspray). Original songs are by Michael Garin (Song of Singapore). The scenic design is by William Barclay, costume design by Mattie Ullrich, lighting design by Phil Monat and sound design by Jill B C DuBoff.

Set in 1977, IN THE WINGS tells the story of Steve (he’s Jewish) and Melinda (she’s not), two aspiring actors in love with each other and the theatre. They get their big break when they are cast in a new musical, "I Married A Communist,” written by their svengali-like acting teacher Bernardo. But when the show moves to Broadway, only Melinda is asked to move with it. Can love stay alive on the Great White Way?

“After three Tony Awards, most people know me as a producer,” says Lane, “but once upon a time, I struggled to make a living on the other side of the footlights. The life of an actor in this city was not an easy one, but those were some of the best years of my life. This particular time in my life seemed like an ideal foundation on which to create a romantic, New York comedy like In the Wings.”

IN THE WINGS, a new comedy by Stewart F. Lane and directed by Jeremy Dobrish, begins performances Friday, September 9th at off-Broadway’s Promenade Theatre (2162 Broadway at West 76th Street). Opening night is Wednesday, September 28th. Via Subway, take the 1/2/3 trains to 72nd Street or the 1 train to 79th Street. Performances are Tuesday – Saturday at 8:00PM with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00PM, and Sunday at 3:00PM. Tickets are $66.25 for all performances.
